A/C Installation Considerations:
One of the most important considerations of installing an A/C system in your home is to insure proper sizing. The old adage of bigger is always better could not be further from the truth. Due to the high relative humidity in our area, an oversized unit will not remove the proper humidity, leaving you with a cool but damp house. For an A/C system to work properly it must run long enough in order to pull down the temperature and humidity. That is why each system that is designed by American Vintage Home, Inc. has a cooling load tabulation done on it prior to its installation.
Another important consideration of A/C systems is the SEER rating of the equipment. The SEER rating stands for "season energy efficiency rating." The higher the SEER rating the less the unit will cost to operate.
Still another consideration in choosing the right A/C system for you is the sound rating of the outside unit. Sound rating is measured in decibels. The lower the decibel rating, the quieter the unit. Most cooling systems manufactured today are quieter that those produced in the past, but there still can be a great difference in the sound levels of products today. American Vintage Home, Inc. product line boasts the industry's quietest units.
For any homeowner that has an existing A/C system, the one question that constantly comes up is whether or not to replace the indoor A/C coil when replacing the outside condensing unit. The answer is, absolutely yes! Not replacing the coil will reduce the operating efficiency of the A/C system as well as impose more stress on it which could result in premature failure.
There are many more considerations in choosing the right air conditioning system for you. Should you need some help or advice on the choosing of the right A/C system for your home, please feel free to call our sales department and we will be happy to assist you.
Central Air Conditioning for Radiator Heated Homes - Spacepak
Spacepak systems are especially designed for the older homes, and will keep you much cooler and dryer than conventional systems. Spacepak systems have been around since the 1960. Essentially the Spacepak system uses a small cooling module that can be installed in an attic, basement, closet or crawlspace. The module distributes cooled air through flexible pre-insulated tubing 2" diameter which enables you to thread the ductwork between walls, ceilings and floors. This eliminates tearing into walls and trim, losing valuable closet space, as well as gets rid of the structural damage and mess that is generally found with adding central air for the older homes. The tubes are then terminated at the ceiling, walls or floors with a round outlet approximately the size of a CD-ROM with a 2" hole in the middle.
American Vintage Home, Inc. is the largest installer of Spacepak in the country and is recognized as the leader in this very specialized field. We have the imagination, the experience, the engineering know-how, the design capabilities and the highly skilled craftsmen in order to ensure the best customized installation possible for your home. So if you are considering installing a Spacepak system into your home or have a question regarding the Spacepak you currently have, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to the opportunity to serve you in any way we can.
Ductless Mini-Split Air Conditioning Systems
The term ductless means simply that there is no ductwork involved. The system is comprised of two units: a slim line outdoor condensing unit and a compact whisper quiet indoor air handler that mounts on a wall. The condensing unit on the outside supplies coolant to the indoor air handler through refrigerant lines (which are smaller than 1-1/12" in diameter) that run through a small opening in the wall or ceiling and into the back of the unit. The air handler takes in hot and humid supply air from the room through the front grill and dispenses the newly cooled dehumidified air back into the room. The indoor units feature automatic oscillating louvers that distribute the air in a side to side motion for better air distribution. A wireless remote controls the temperature.
These systems are an ideal alternative to window units, where cooling is desired but space, security, quiet and aesthetics are a factor.
American Vintage Home, Inc. has a world of knowledge in this field, and certainly can provide you with a cooling solution for a hard to cool home. One of our engineers will be happy to come out and provide you with a free consultation and answer any questions you may have. We look forward to serving you.
